![]() There are other options of-course but their presentations will be different from the scm 19, like the B&W D805, Kef Reference1, Focal Diablo Utopia, Dynaudio C1, Dali Epicon 2 etc. I heard the 2 and tonality wise it was not too far off ATC, another option perhaps is ProAc response 2 - please note I am indicating book shelf models only. ![]() Perhaps things are different now.īTW if budget is no bar you should be looking at Focal sopra no.1. Please note I have heard only v1 - so no experience with the latest series. So essentially the scm10 will lie between the 7 and 11 (in terms of cabinet volume i.e 7 litres and 11 liters) so perhaps it has that same magic. No wonder then ATC is issuing a SCM10 signature edition, a favorite speaker of their MD and founder Billy Woodman. I can play jazz, acoustic, hip hop, rock, anything and they sound great. This is the best because it is the most neutral. I know ATC scm11 is not even the best bookshelf ATC has, with the 19s considered much better, but I've never tried that at home. The smaller ATC's have a kind of magic that is missing from their bigger brothers. ATC SCM11 The ATC scm 11 I've got is perhaps the most neutral speakers I've tried. The 11 is the most rounded of their entry level series. The 19 while very good, IMO cannot image and soundstage as well as the the SCM11. Actually I feel the 7 images even better and completely disappears but it is devoid of any meaningful bass response. Human Speakers Model 81 Human Speakers Model 61 (I think) Role Kayak Spendor A1 Spendor Classic 4/5. In all of these my preference is the atc scm 11. ATC SCM11 ATC SCM19 Gershman Acoustics Studio 2 Harbeth P3ESR Harbeth P3ESR 40th Anniversary Harbeth P3ESR XD Stirling Broadcast LS3/5A. Has anyone tried the Roksan Darius standmount ? They get a good write up too.I have owned the ATC SCM19, ATC7 and currently own the SCM 11 all v1. Perhaps more importantand I keep making a point of this because I think it's both. The Aerial 5B measures 13' high by 7.9' wide by 10.8' deep, displaces 1109 in 3, and weighs 22 lbs. I suppose the Reference 1 is close to that, more so than the R300, and I am wondering how the R3 might compare. The ATC SCM 11's cabinet measures 15' high by 8.3' wide by 9.8' deep, displaces 1220 in3, and weighs 17.6 lbs. I wondered why KEF have never made a larger version of the LS50's or a three way version using the same cabinet techniques. I liked the LS50's a lot but they were too inconsistent, and I've almost come to the conclusion that what i'd like is a pair of LS50's and Focal Aria 906's side by side and flick between the two depending on what i'm listening to ! I've just bought some Partington Dreadnought stands (which i'll probably use on only one side as two is a squeeze) to try as my existing stands are not that good. I think I've been doing the same thing as you further down the food chain with standmount speakers, and have tried quite a few ! I think my room size / set up wouldn't justify the cost of Dynaudio Special 40's but i did try them briefly in a demo and they sounded very good. I’m considering the following speakers models: ATC SCM19 V2 Dynaudio Contour S1.4 ProAc Tablette 10 Signature Sonus Faber Sonetto II Currently I’m listening to a pair of Wharfedale Denton 80th Anniversarry, everything so musical and well done with this speakers, it sound sweet smooth engaging if powerd by a Class D Audio SDS-470C with upgraded power supply, it sound near to neutral with. Will be interesting for me to do a comparison at some point i think, but amazingly there are now fewer dealers that sell ATC for some strange reason.Ĭlick to expand.Hi, Yes i have owned the LS50's and I've seen your posts on your speaker quest. Interestingly What Hi Fi has just give these a five star review, and given them their 2018 Award, ousting the very impressive ATC SCM11's ! Should be good then. Kef have now released the successor to the R300 - the R3, which apparently offers trickle down design from their Reference series, and features similar dual concentric design to the LS50 with a bass driver too. ![]() I can understand why other people love the Kef LS50's and they are a modern classic i think. Also any recommendations in the 2k to 2500 price range. I am looking for pros and cons from people who have heard either of the three. ![]() I realize most have not heard all three speakers. I am partial to dynaudio and have seen a new dealer pair for sale online at a decent discount. Part of this i think was down to the fact that one speaker was on a shelf and one on a stand (that particular future upgrade will be expensive, requiring a new house!), and the limited lower bass capability. I mainly listen to classic rock on vinyl. Eventually I preferred the warmer meatier sound of my Focal Aria 905's. The problem was that they tended to put a spotlight on some bits of a song with a powerful and detailed sound, but other bits were recessed and distant. Initially i didn't like them at all, but after a bit more running in I suddenly found them to be fantastic with some kinds of music. I have recently bought and sold a pair of Kef LS50's and found them to be very hit and miss. ![]()
